  1. There is no charge to enter the competition. However, completion and return of the enclosed entry form is required. Please make sure that your Junior High, Junior Varsity and Varsity squads are all aware of the competition. Copy and distribute the enclosed material as necessary. Deadline for entry is Thursday, September 8, 2011. Because of time constraints, competing squads will be limited if necessary. In this case, squads will be accepted in order of entry confirmation.
  2. Varsity, Junior Varsity and Junior High schools will each have two divisions of competition based on squad size (excluding mascot):
    • Division 1: Squads with 11 cheerleaders or more
    • Division 2: Squads with up to 10 cheerleaders
    • Trophies will be awarded to first, second and third places in each division.
  3. Mascots will compete in one (Varsity, JV or Junior high) division. One trophy will be awarded to the best mascot in each division. (Performance limited to 90 seconds.)
  4. Squads will be given an overall performance time of 2-3 minutes. Exceeding this time limit will result in point penalty. Timing begins with the first organized word, movement, or note of music by the team after the team has been introduced.
  5. There are two required elements of competition for each division: (1) cheer and (2) music routine to be performed in either order. Squads must provide their own music and performance tapes must be cued. A sound system will be provided. All cheers and routines must adhere to the NCA Rules and Guidelines (www.aacca.org). Any violation of these rules will result in point penalty or disqualification. These guidelines are being enforced to ensure participant safety.
  6. The performance area is a 42’ deep x 54’ wide carpeted gymnastics floor mat on the arena floor.
  7. Registration will begin Saturday, September 24, at 9am. Squads are asked to arrive promptly and check in at the registration table near the stage in the Main Arena of the Angeline County Expo Center. Competition will begin at 10:00 am. Squads may practice anytime after registration prior to competition and only under sponsor’s supervision. Each squad will be given 2 minutes to warm up on the performance area after registration and prior to competition. If for any reason your squad is not ready to warm up at the designated you will forfeit your time on the performance area.
  8. Your cheerleading uniform will be your pass into the Texas State Forest Festival. A complementary pass will be sent to the cheerleading sponsor upon entry confirmation. Additional tickets for family members and friends may be purchased at the entrance gate for $5.
